Pallet Haul-Off Preparation Guide
Good preparation reduces rejected pickups, unsafe loading and unexpected charges. Use this checklist before requesting pallet removal or buyback review.
Count and sort the material
Estimate the number of pallets by footprint and separate standard reusable pallets from broken pieces, crates, odd sizes and non-wood material. A count based on stack height and pallets per stack is more useful than a broad guess.
Take useful photographs
Provide wide photos of the full accumulation plus close-ups of condition, markings, broken boards and unusual sizes. Include the loading area, dock or ground-level access. Photos help evaluate recovery value and the equipment needed.
Prepare a safe pickup area
- Build stable stacks and keep travel lanes clear.
- Remove loose stretch wrap, cardboard and trash.
- Identify protruding nails, contamination or unusually heavy pallets.
- Confirm forklift, pallet-jack or dock availability.
- Provide gate rules, appointment requirements and site contact information.
Understand the possible outcomes
Reusable standard pallets may qualify for exchange or buyback, while damaged, mixed or low-demand material may require a paid haul-off. Transportation distance and loading time affect the economics.
